📘  How to Send Digital Scans From 3Shape Trios

Overview

If your practice or lab uses a 3Shape TRIOS scanner, you can send scans directly to CAE Dental through the 3Shape Communicate platform. This guide walks you through connecting your scanner, selecting the correct workflow, and ensuring your files arrive correctly.


🔗 Step 1: Add CAE Dental as a Trusted Connection

1. Log in to 3Shape Communicate

2. Go to “Connections”

  • Navigate to Connections in the left menu
  • Click Add Connection

3. Search for CAE Dental

Search for:
CAE Dental
or
[email protected] (if available in your region)

4. Send Connection Request

  • Click Connect
  • Wait for CAE Dental to approve the request
  • Once approved, you’ll be able to send cases directly from your scanner

📤 Step 2: Send a Case From Your TRIOS Scanner

1. Start a New Scan

  • Select New Patient or choose an existing patient
  • Scan Upper, Lower, and Bite as required

2. Review & Clean the Scan

Before sending:

  • Trim excess tissue
  • Remove floating artifacts
  • Verify bite alignment
  • Ensure margins are visible

Clean scans = faster turnaround and fewer revision requests.

3. Choose “Send to Lab”

After completing the scan:

  • Tap Send
  • Select CAE Dental from your list of connected labs

4. Add Case Notes

Include:

  • Restoration type
  • Material preferences
  • Implant system
  • Occlusion requirements
  • Shade information
  • Any special instructions

Clear notes help ensure accurate design results.

5. Send the Case

Once everything looks correct:

  • Tap Send
  • Your files will upload automatically to CAE Dental

🧾 Step 3: Confirm the Case in Your CAE Dental Account

After sending from 3Shape:

  1. Log in to caedental.com
  2. Go to My Account → Orders
  3. Locate the incoming case
  4. Add any additional files or notes if needed
  5. Complete checkout to officially submit the order

This step ensures your case is properly linked to your account and moves into production.


⚠️ Troubleshooting Tips

“CAE Dental doesn’t appear in my connections”

  • Double‑check spelling
  • Ensure your region supports third‑party lab connections
  • Contact CAE Dental support to confirm your Communicate email

“My scans won’t upload”

  • Check your internet connection
  • Restart the TRIOS software
  • Ensure your 3Shape Communicate subscription is active
  • Try exporting the scans as STL and uploading manually through the website

“The bite looks misaligned”

  • Re‑scan the bite
  • Ensure the patient is fully closed
  • Remove excess scan data around the occlusal surfaces
