The Kois Deprogrammer – CAD Design is a removable, retainer-like appliance developed by Dr. John C. Kois. It plays a crucial role in evaluating the stability of a patient’s bite. By slightly discluding all teeth and allowing the jaw muscles to relax independently from their usual position associated with the current bite, the Kois Deprogrammer helps dentists determine optimal jaw position. It’s particularly useful for distinguishing between three types of abnormal occlusal attrition: Constricted Path of Closure (PCP), Occlusal Dysfunction, and Parafunction (bruxism). This appliance frees up the muscles and jaw joint, allowing them to settle into their physiologically ideal resting position without influence from maximum intercuspation
