📘 Implant System Compatibility Guide
Overview
CAE Dental supports a wide range of implant systems and platforms to ensure accurate, predictable digital designs. This guide explains what information we need from you, how to identify your implant components, and how to avoid compatibility issues that can delay your case.
🧩 Why Implant Compatibility Matters
Accurate implant information ensures:
- Proper fit of custom abutments
- Correct emergence profile
- Accurate screw‑channel alignment
- Reliable seating of the final restoration
- Reduced risk of remakes or chairside adjustments
Providing complete implant details upfront helps us deliver the most precise design possible.
🔩 Implant Systems We Commonly Support
CAE Dental works with most major implant manufacturers, including:
- Nobel Biocare
- Straumann
- Zimmer Biomet
- BioHorizons
- Astra Tech / Dentsply Sirona
- Hiossen / Osstem
- Implant Direct
- Neodent
- Megagen
- MIS
If your system isn’t listed, we can likely still support it — just include full details in your case notes.
📏 What We Need From You
1. Implant System
Examples:
- Straumann Bone Level
- Nobel Active
- Astra EV
- Hiossen ET3
This identifies the connection geometry and compatible components.
2. Platform Size
Implant systems often have multiple platform diameters.
Examples:
- RP / NP / WP
- 3.5 / 4.0 / 4.5 / 5.0
- Narrow / Regular / Wide
Platform size determines the correct abutment interface.
3. Scan Body Type
We need to know:
- Manufacturer
- Model
- Height (if applicable)
Tip:
Always use the matching scan body for the implant system.
Mixing brands can cause misalignment or incorrect seating.
4. Screw Type (If Relevant)
For screw‑retained restorations, note:
- Manufacturer
- Screw type (standard, long, angled channel compatible)
This ensures proper screw‑channel design.
5. Tissue Height
Especially important for custom abutments.
Include:
- Soft‑tissue height
- Desired margin placement
- Any tissue photos (recommended for anterior cases)
🦷 How to Identify Your Implant System
1. Check the Patient’s Chart
Most implant systems are documented in the treatment notes.
2. Look at the Scan Body
Scan bodies often have:
- Brand markings
- Color coding
- QR codes
- Model numbers
3. Review the Implant Packaging
If available, the box label includes:
- System
- Platform
- Lot number
- Diameter
- Length
4. Contact the Restoring Dentist or Surgeon
If you’re a lab and unsure, the surgeon’s office can confirm the system.
⚠️ Common Issues to Avoid
- ❌ Using the wrong scan body brand
- ❌ Missing platform size
- ❌ No implant system listed
- ❌ Incorrect bite alignment
- ❌ Tissue not captured around the scan body
These issues can delay your case or require a rescan.
🚀 Tips for Best Results
- Always include upper, lower, bite, and scan body scans
- Add photos for anterior or tissue‑sensitive cases
- Provide implant system + platform in the case notes
- Upload shade photos if a crown is included
- Use PLY scans when color helps with margin visibility
